I am 68 years old and needed to move a 550# gun safe down two flights of narrow stairways. With the help of only two other men, we easily lowered the safe with this simple but very effective machine! I know that we couldn't have done the job without this block and tackle.

My only disappointment was that it could have easily been made with 8:1 mechanical advantage instead of 7:1.

Piece of junk. Lifted a light pole (maybe 200 lbs.) and one of the plastic sheaves broke. By-passed and used just three sheaves, and another one broke. Useless.

You get what you pay for, it is not of very high quality. However, it worked fine after I tightened up the bolts holding it together. Handled 300 pounds without any signs of a challenge.

The advertised lifting capacity of 2000lbs with the rope provided is wrong. I upgraded the rope to a larger size and it was still difficult to use on much lower weight. If you need to lift a 100lbs or so, it will work. Otherwise I would look elsewhere.

4Block and TackleApr 07, 2011
By J. Clark "jeeper2007"
got this to use as a hoist for my hard top of my Wrangler, First impression was it felt a little cheap. But it was inexpensive and did what i wanted it to, was able to lift my hard top on a constructed platform base up to about 8ft off the ground. It's hanging from the rafters in the garage and has been there for some now. using chains as additional support as I would not trust just this block and tackle to support weight for any long period of time by itself. pulleys are plastic and metal plates in between are kind of thin, If your going to lift any real amount of weight, make sure you look at weight ratings, I would not trust this unit to it's max capacity.
